Information Dissemination Campaign for Communities along the Xe Bang Fai Concerning Changes in Expected Schedule for NT2 Impacts Downstream of the Power Station.
As a result of changes to the schedule for NT2 commercial operation consultations were required with communities downstream of the NT2 Power Station to inform them of the
change in schedule of the anticipated impacts. This had particular implications for 68 villages along the Xe Bang Fai that traditionally cultivate riverbank gardens along the river
coarse. Specifically this applies to the volume of water discharge (and hence water levels) and its timing, and how these conditions will impact riverbank planting, irrigation pumping equipment, and household or community assets.
A Hydro-Safety Information Dissemination Campaign Downstream of the NAM THEUN 2
Regulating Dam.
The campaign involved consultations in 23 villages that lie along or have close proximity to the Downstream Channel and key Project features along it. Each feature had specific concerns over public safety and messages were tailored to meet each community's requirements. Presentations were given to an audience of rural communities and rural schoolchildren to improve their understanding and awareness of hydro-safety issues related to the operation of the regulating dam and downstream channel. |
